Disney Aladdin Jr. Theatre Camp coming in June

Largo, Florida - Aladdin Jr. Theatre Camp is a three week day camp for beginners to advance students interested in the performing arts. 

Campers will spend three weeks developing audition skills, solo and ensemble voice development, choreography, prop and scenic design. Campers will culminate in a final performance to showcase their skills and talent.

Heritage Village hosts third historical writing workshop

Largo, Florida -- Do you want to learn how to construct a novel?

Award-winning author Angela T. Pisaturo continues to host workshops at Heritage Village on the topic of writing history into a novel. The third workshop is on Friday, May 10, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This workshop will explain how to construct a novel, to use pyramid theory to create rising and falling action and to successfully create conflict and cliffhangers to move the story along.

Largo, Florida -- Frank Ferrante will recreate his New York, London and PBS triumph as the legendary Groucho Marx in this fast-paced comedy at the Largo Cultural Center on Sunday, April 21 at 7 p.m. 

The two-act comedy consists of the best Groucho one-liners, anecdotes and songs including "Horray For Caption Spalding" and "Lydia, the Tattooed Lady." The audience literally becomes part of the show as Ferrante ad-libs his way throughout the performance in grand Groucho style. A show perfect for all ages!

Largo Cultural Center offers theatre camps

Largo, Florida --The magical theatre camp experience has returned to Largo Cultural Center this summer with three new camps.

Children ages 8-13 can now register for Disney's Aladdin Jr., scheduled for June 10-29.

For teens ages 12-18 who want to act out their dreams of becoming a performer, they are invited to sign up for Thoroughly Modern Millie Jr., scheduled from July 22 to August 10.

Botanical gardens hosts french market

Largo, Florida -- The Florida Botanical Gardens Foundation and Pinellas County Historical Society will participate in the 11 Annual French Market. 

On Saturday, March 16 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. the event, held by Julie’s Cottage at Provence and Periwinkles at the Cottage stores, will help support the Florida Botanical Gardens and Heritage Village.

The FBG Foundation will showcase a video of the gardens and offer membership opportunities. A hand-painted reusable tote bag with $50 worth of merchandise will be given to those who purchase a $30 foundation membership.

Art competition for 38th Annual Mainsail Art Festival

St. Petersburg, Florida -- Student artists in grades K-12 are invited to compete for a chance to exhibit their artwork at the 38th Annual Mainsail Art Festival.

The festival will take place on April 20-21, 2013 in downtown St. Petersburg. The Young at Art Student Competition has been a part of Mainsail for 11 years and is a juried exhibition open to all public and private school students in Pinellas County.
