Southwest Pool offers Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Class | Events

Largo, Fla. -- Summer is fast approaching and area swimming pools will be hiring swim instructors for their peak attendance period of the year.
The City of Largo Recreation, Parks and Arts Department announces the beginning of an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Class scheduled for Saturdays, March 3-31, from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., at Southwest Pool, 13120 Vonn Road, Largo.
The prerequisite for this course is a minimum age of 16 and successful completion of the Fundamentals of Instructor Training, which is mandatory and will be offered on March 1 beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Class cost is $160 for residents and $200 for non-residents, and all individuals must have a City recreation card to participate. There is an additional fee payable to the American Red Cross for books and materials.
This course teaches the skills necessary to become an American Red Cross certified Water Safety Instructor. This certification is widely accepted throughout the aquatic profession and provides individuals with the knowledge and skills to teach others, of all ages and abilities, how to swim.
