Murder-suicide attempt suspected in double shooting | News

Largo, Florida -- Police believe a double shooting of two women -- where one was killed -- may have been a failed murder-suicide attempt.

Largo Police were called to the Suburban Lodge on Ulmerton Road Monday afternoon.

Hotel staff told officers that two women had been staying in one of the rooms and were due to check out earlier in the day. When the women didn't check out, hotel staff went to their room, where they found one woman -- later identified as 27-year-old Lindsey Castaneda -- dead and the other -- identified as 26-year-old Bethany Dunlop -- seriously injured from a gunshot wound.

Dunlop was Bayflighted to Bayfront Hospital where she is in critical condition.

Based on preliminary information, detectives believe one woman shot and killed the other, then turned the gun on herself. So far, there is no indication the two women were anything other than friends.
