Domestic partners can register

Domestic partners can register

Pinellas County, Florida -- Beginning April 15, any two people over the age of 18 will be able to register as domestic partners in Pinellas County, subject to certain limitations. 

Registration as domestic partners will afford unmarried couples certain rights relative to each other regarding health care visitation and decisions, funeral and burial decisions as well as notification of information conveyed to other family members.

Pinellas County, Florida -- Pinellas County commissioners and the county administrator will be spending quality time with the public on Wednesday, April 10, at Pinellas County’s 2014 Budget Community Forum.

It’s the community’s chance to find out more about Pinellas County programs and services and provide feedback on next year’s budget. As the county works on a strategic direction for the future, they are asking citizens to share their own vision of the community and of Pinellas County as a whole.

Largo, Florida - The City of Largo is currently seeking applicants for a seven member committee to review the City Charter and make recommendations for amendments to the City Commission. 

The committee will be appointed in early April and will meet at least once a month for approximately ten months. 

Applications are available on the City's website, largo.com. Applicants must be residents of Largo and be registered to vote.

Pinellas County, Florida -- The Pinellas County Board of Adjustment has one alternate member position open.

The Board of Adjustment reviews variance requests for issues such as setback reductions, lot area reductions and parking requirement reductions as well as requests for special exceptions. Members are appointed by the Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners whose individual number terms run concurrently with the term of the appointing commissioner.

PSTA Board agrees to ask county commission for new funding source

Pinellas County, Florida -- The PSTA Board of Directors made a historic advancement in improving Pinellas County’s transit service.

By a unanimous vote at its monthly meeting on Jan. 23, the Board agreed to ask the County Commission to include a transit improvement sales tax on the November 2014 ballot moving more than 30 years of planning forward.

Financial data shows that PSTA’s current revenues will not be enough to maintain current service levels in the coming years, let alone improving the transit system.

TAMPA BAY, Florida -- Early voting days are done for this election, but some counties are finding a way to still let people vote in a very similar way.

Elections officials in Hillsborough and Pinellas counties are opening up their doors, offering over-the-counter vote by mail ballots.

"It's not early voting, but it is voting early," says Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections Earl Lennard.
